OVERVIEW
Launched in 2025 by JSW MG Motor, the MG Comet EV appeals primarily to urban commuters looking for an affordable, compact, and practical electric car that delivers on efficiency and modern features without burning a hole in the pocket. The MG Comet EV has rapidly made its mark as a compelling electric vehicle option in India’s growing EV market.
KEY FEATURES
MG Comet offers five variants—Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive, and Exclusive Fast Charge—catering to diverse customer preferences on features and charging speeds.
Designed as a 3-door hatchback with seating for four, the Comet EV is ideal for city driving where parking space and maneuverability matter. Its compact dimensions (length of 2974 mm, width 1505 mm, height 1640 mm) and a turning radius of just 4.2 meters make it easy to navigate crowded urban streets. The stylish, quirky design flaunts premium touches like LED headlights and taillamps, LED daytime running lights, and dual-tone paint options, lending it a modern and youthful appeal.
Under the hood, the MG Comet EV houses a 17.3 kWh prismatic lithium-ion battery, paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor capable of delivering 42 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. This setup offers a claimed ARAI-certified driving range of 230 kilometers on a full charge, making it suitable for everyday commutes and short city trips. The motor drives the front wheels, accompanied by an automatic, single-speed transmission simplifying driving for all users. Charging options include fast charging variants that reduce downtime for busy owners.
MG has focused on delivering comfort and convenience in the Comet EV. The cabin comes equipped with a dual 10.25-inch digital display setup, offering modern infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Higher variants boast leatherette seats and a 4-speaker audio system for an enhanced in-car experience. Safety is ensured with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a rear parking camera featured on mid and higher variants.
Convenient features such as power-folding outside mirrors, keyless entry, remote central locking, and manual AC with heating add to the urban practicality of the car. The vehicle’s suspension is tuned for city roads, utilizing independent MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link coil suspension at the rear, providing a balanced ride quality.

MG Comet EV is starting at an ex-showroom price of around ₹4.99 lakh through the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model, making the upfront cost significantly accessible. The conventional purchase variant prices range roughly from ₹7.50 lakh to ₹10 lakh depending on the trim level.
