Mahindra XEV 9S has a bold, upright SUV stance with EV-specific styling touches that make it look modern. Its exterior blends design cues from Mahindra’s Born Electric family (like the XEV 9e) with the muscular proportions of the XUV700 to create a more practical, family-oriented look.
The front fascia features a full-width LED DRL signature that extends downwards at the edges, framing a blanked-off grille that carries Mahindra’s Infinity logo, giving it a clean EV identity. Slim LED projector headlamps are integrated neatly below the DRLs, while a gloss-black lower bumper with subtle openings manages cooling without spoiling the smooth, EV-focused look.
XEV 9S has a classic, upright SUV silhouette with a long, straight window line, emphasizing cabin space and practicality. Gloss-black cladding on the wheel arches and side sills, along with 18-inch aero alloy wheels wrapped in chunky tyres, adds a rugged yet aerodynamic feel suitable for a family SUV.
The rear design closely echoes the XUV700, with a tall, upright tailgate and split LED tail-lamps that use intricate internal detailing instead of a full-width connected light bar. Infotainment, Climate Control and Sunroof
Mahindra XEV 9S features a triple-screen setup: a 12.3‑inch digital driver’s display, a central infotainment screen, and a separate passenger-side display integrated into a single wide housing. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, along with a 16‑speaker Harman Kardon audio system in higher trims, reinforce its tech-forward positioning.
The cabin gets automatic climate control with rear AC vents, rear armrest with cupholders, ambient lighting, and a central armrest with storage. Features such as cruise control, multiple drive modes, tilt-and-telescopic steering, power windows, and multiple USB Type‑C charging points across rows support everyday usability.
Mahindra XEV 9S comes with a panoramic sunroof across all variants. The panoramic sunroof is openable and retractable, unlike the fixed glass roof on the related XEV 9e. It spans a large area over the front and second rows.

The XEV 9S uses a rear‑wheel‑drive single‑motor setup paired with a single‑speed automatic gearbox. Depending on battery pack, power output ranges roughly from about 228–286 bhp (around 231–286 hp) while torque is common at 380 Nm, giving brisk responses for a large 7‑seater.
The Mahindra XEV 9S offers three battery options: a 59 kWh, 70kWh and a larger 79 kWh, catering to different needs regarding driving range and charging frequency. All three variants support AC and DC fast charging via CCS- II port.
On 11 kW AC home charger, 59kWh battery takes roughly 6 hours for full charge; 70kWh takes around 7 hours for full charge while 70kWh take around 8 hours for full charge.
59kWh battery is claimed to have range of 521 km on full charge; 70kWh claimed to have 600 km on full charge while 70kWh claimed to have 679 km on full charge.
Performance-wise, the electric motor delivers instant torque typical of electric vehicles, providing smooth and responsive acceleration. Mahindra claims 0–100 km/h in about 7 seconds and a top speed of around 202 km/h, putting it among the quicker three‑row EV SUVs in its price band.
Safety Features
All variants of XEV 9S include six airbags (driver, passenger, side, and curtain), with the top Pack Three adding a seventh (driver knee airbag). Additional passive features cover ISOFIX child-seat mounts, seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters for driver/passenger, rear middle headrest, and child safety locks.
The XEV 9S offers NFC-based key access that lets you unlock the SUV by simply tapping an authorised NFC card or phone on the designated area (usually near the driver’s door handle).
Standard electronic aids feature ABS with EBD, electronic brake assist (EBA), electronic stability program (ESP), and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). These are paired with disc brakes front and rear, emergency brake light flashing, seatbelt/door-ajar warnings, and an electric parking brake.
Lower variants get a rear parking camera and rear sensors, while higher packs (from Pack Two Above) add a 360-degree surround-view camera. Central locking, speed-sensing auto door locks, impact-sensing auto door unlock, and hill-hold assist complete the parking and low-speed safety toolkit.
Boot Capacity
The Mahindra XEV 9S offers a boot capacity of approximately 527 liters with the third row of seats folded down, providing ample space for luggage and family needs.
With all seven seats in place, boot space is limited to a few soft bags but is supplemented by an additional 150 liters of storage in the front trunk (frunk), ideal for keeping small bags or vehicle charging accessories.
