The Tata Sierra is a modern mid-size SUV revived by Tata Motors with a blend of heritage styling and contemporary features. The Sierra is launched on November 15 2025, alongside the ICE (internal combustion engine) version. The Vehicle is making a celebrated return to the Indian automobile market, reviving an iconic SUV nameplate with both electric and internal combustion options.

The Tata Sierra lineup – including EV and petrol versions – officially debuts in India on November 15, 2025, and price announced on November 25, 2025, the customer deliveries are scheduled to begin from January 15, 2026.

Retro-Inspired Exterior

The front fascia features a wide, connected LED daytime running light (DRL) bar running across the bonnet, giving it a modern edge. Sleek LED headlamps are integrated into a gloss-black panel, flanked by visually distinct fog lamps on the bumper for a bold appearance.

​The front bumper houses a blacked-out air dam along with a silver skid plate, enhancing its rugged and SUV-oriented look. Prominent ‘SIERRA’ badging sits between the Tata logo and the DRL strip, adding a signature touch to the nose.

The Tata Sierra 2025 dashboard showcases a modern, tech-focused, and premium design aimed at delivering both luxury and intuitive functionality.

​The Sierra features a triple-screen setup: a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a large central infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated co-passenger display. All three screens are integrated into a seamless glass panel for a clean and futuristic look.

Premium materials dominate the dashboard, with gloss-black trims, chrome accents, and soft-touch surfaces adding to the upmarket feel. Climate control is managed through a touch-based dual-zone system, and a wireless charging pad sits conveniently in the centre console. The gear lever area features metallic finishes for added elegance.

The rear seat offers excellent knee, foot, and headroom—even taller occupants over 6 feet can sit comfortably thanks to the flat floor and spacious layout.​ The rear bench is wide, softly cushioned, and provides good under-thigh and back support. The seatbacks are adjustable for recline, so passengers can find their ideal comfort angle.​​

Three adults with average builds can sit comfortably with sufficient shoulder room, aided by individual adjustable headrests and 3-point seatbelts for all rear occupants.

​Amenities include a fold-out armrest with cup holders, dedicated rear AC vents, sunshades for side windows, and a unique “boss mode” that allows the rear passenger to push the front passenger seat forward for extra legroom.

The massive panoramic sunroof creates an airy, open feel, while large windows enhance visibility and spaciousness.

The Tata Sierra 2025 offers a practical and spacious boot space designed to cater to family and outdoor needs. The Sierra features a powered tailgate for easy access to the boot, enhancing convenience for loading and unloading.​

The boot floor is flat and wide, providing a usable and versatile loading area suitable for luggage, groceries, or sports equipment.​

Although precise boot volume specs are not officially published as of November 2025, visual inspections suggest the space is comparable to or slightly larger than typical compact SUVs, which commonly range between 450 to 500 liters.

Engine and Performance

Petrol Engine: A new 1.5-litre TGDI turbo-petrol engine producing 158 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. This engine comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Other variant of 1.5-litre NA petrol that produces 105bhp and 145Nm comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It delivers a refined balance of power and efficiency suitable for both city and highway driving.

​Diesel Engine: A 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing around 116 bhp and 260 Nm of torque is also available, paired with either 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This option is expected to appeal to buyers seeking better fuel economy and torque for heavier use.

EV Option: Besides the IC engines, the Sierra also has an electric variant coming, which focuses on sustainable performance but is a separate powertrain from the ICE models.

Transmission: The Sierra supports both manual and automatic transmissions, with the 7-speed DCT automatic providing smooth and convenient driving experiences.

​​Acceleration: The ICE version is likely to have acceleration closer to the 8-10 seconds range while EV is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7.87 to 8 seconds, but official exact figures are not widely confirmed yet.

Mileage: The Tata Sierra 2025 petrol version is expected to offer fuel efficiency in the range of approximately 18.9 km/l for the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is expected to provide fuel efficiency favorable for long-distance travel and heavy usage, typically in the range of approximately 19-21 km/l.

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to have a driving range of around 420 km on a full charge, based on a 69 kWh battery pack

Safety Features

The Tata Sierra 2025 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety package including at least six airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control (ESC). It also has traction control, hill hold assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), 360-degree camera system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and driver attention warning, making it a well-rounded safety suite for a modern SUV.

Additionally, it features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and rear cross traffic alert.​​

Price

The Sierra is positioned as a premium mid-size SUV, with prices starting from ₹11.49 lakh (Ex-Showroom) for fuel based while it is expected to be between ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh for EV.​
